Our Fuerza Bruta Experience

It happened too fast! One moment my friend was tweeting about a promo of Fuerza Bruta show at Ensogo.com, the next minute, I was purchasing 3 vouchers – for myself, Hubby and my sister!

WELL, I just had to grab it! I knew that the Fuerza Bruta show will end in a few days!

Fuerza Bruta, a breath taking and world-class performance that will redefine your late-night entertainment. Fuerza Bruta, which literally means “Brute Force” is a heart-pounding 60-minute spectacle performers running and tumbling across a vertical wall of Technicolor cloth, flying dancers, a man bursting through moving walls, and dancers wading on a small puddle of water on a hanging pool. The show is completely non-verbal performance that uses dance, acrobatics, visual displays, and pumping beats that will rock your world as it floods the senses. The show ends with a techno dance party and the crowd dancing to the music mixes of the DJ.

The interactive show created and directed by Diqui James, originated in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2005 and went on a run for six years in Broadway.

And boy, I’m so glad I did because it was one of the unique shows I’ve ever seen so far!

Here’s how our 60 minutes were rocked by Fuerza Bruta!

We came in early around 10PM for the 11PM show because we knew that lots of people also bought vouchers from Ensogo. There were already people inside the Fuerza Bruta lounge. Since it was early, we ordered drinks first. And then by 10:45PM, they announced that the show is about to start! So we went to the entrance doors and waited…

When we were finally inside, we waited again for another couple of minutes until it finally started!

Since it was too crowded, I found it hard to take photos.

It was an interactive show indeed, because we were asked to move around during the show.

It is hard to explain in words the feeling we felt after, but my most favorite part was the water show in the pool.

Definitely unforgettable!

At first I thought that the 60 minute show would be tiring, but I was wrong. Time flew by so quickly! We even felt sad that the show was over. We expected a techno dance party after but it seems like the people had other plans because most of them went out already so we just took a couple of photos then transferred to the Lounge.

It was an unforgettable night for all of us! We were so glad we took the opportunity and bought the discounted offers of Ensogo.

Cirque du Soleil will be Back!

And that will be on August, 2012, with its signature production Saltimbanco. Woot!

cirque2012

Saltimbanco -from the Italian “saltare in banco”, which literally means “to jump on a bench”-explores the urban experience in all its myriad forms: the people who live there, their idiosyncrasies and likenesses, families and groups, the hustle and bustle of the street and the towering heights of skyscrapers. Between whirlwind and lull, prowess and poetry, Saltimbanco takes spectators on an allegorical and acrobatic journey into the heart of the city.

Saltimbanco is a Cirque du Soleil signature show inspired by the urban fabric of the metropolis and its colorful inhabitants. Decidedly baroque in its visual vocabulary, the show’s eclectic cast of characters draws spectators into a fanciful, dreamlike world, an imaginary city where diversity is a cause for hope. SOURCE.

Looks like it will be an interesting show just like Varekai. Here are the show schedules and ticket prices…

Reminiscing on Cirque du Soleil’s Varekai

It’s almost a month since I last saw Varekai, but I had to admit, I’m still mesmerized by that show.

After watching Kaos, a few weeks before we watched Varekai, I would say this was the most amazing show we’ve even seen so far. But I didn’t say that Kaos was not a good show, it definitely was comparable. We loved both Kaos and Varekai that we hoped there’s another Cirque du Soleil show coming very soon.

If you’re wondering what was Varekai all about, here’s the story:

Deep within a forest, at the summit of a volcano, exists an extraordinary world—a world where something else is possible. A world called Varekai.

From the sky falls a solitary young man, and the story of Varekai begins. Parachuted into the shadows of a magical forest, a kaleidoscopic world populated by fantastical creatures, this young man sets off on an adventure both absurd and extraordinary. On this day at the edge of time, in this place of all possibilities, begins an inspired incantation to life rediscovered.

The word Varekai means “wherever” in the Romany language of the gypsies, the universal wanderers. This production pays tribute to the nomadic soul, to the spirit and art of the circus tradition, and to the infinite passion of those whose quest takes them along the path that leads to Varekai.

We didn’t understand much of the story but the acts were amazing particularly the following, which I would say were my favorite:

“Flight of Icarus” – With agility, deftness and sensitivity, a young man performs astounding dives and contortions in the net that holds him captive.

“Aerial Straps” – Two flyers suspended by wrist straps glide gracefully above the stage, performing original acrobatic figures in a synchronized display of precision and power. With a double strap, the two artists meld midair, becoming one in a series of striking acrobatic silhouettes.

… and of course the finale, which was called the “Triple Trapeze” – From their trapeze high up, four young women perform a series of striking acrobatic moves, displaying grace, sensuality and impeccable timing.

So that is why I’m hoping they come here again and have another Cirque du Soleil show. I heard their coming back August next year. Is it true? I sure do hope so!
