DLSU Closed due to Swine Flu

Check out the current news about swine flu. Grabbed from here.

MANILA, Philippines—The De La Salle University’s (DLSU) Taft Ave. campus will be voluntarily suspending classes from June 4 to 14 because one of its foreign exchange students tested positive for swine flu, or the influenza A(H1N1) virus.

The 21-year-old female foreign student arrived in the country last May 12 but reported “very mild” flu symptoms only on May 29.

The student consulted a health facility on May 31. She tested positive for the H1N1 virus, according to results issued on Wednesday by the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine in Muntinlupa City.

Classes for the DLSU’s first trimester officially started on May 25.

DLSU officials led by its president and chancellor, Bro. Armin Luistro, met with Health Secretary Francisco Duque III and health officials Wednesday to discuss how to prevent the spread of the virus in the school.

At 4 p.m. Wednesday, Luistro announced a 10-day suspension of classes.

Reminiscing on our Boracay Trip

nice beach!

It was almost 6 years since I’ve been to my most favorite place in the Philippines – Borocay. It was our honeymoon then and we didn’t do anything except to have fun! I remember we would sleep late then woke up late. Eat breakfast, stroll on the beach after wards, eat our lunch, check out the shops, swim on the beach, have dinner, and party! It was unforgettable. No responsibilities, no worries. We were on a real vacation!

view from fairways....

Back then, there was still no Geckogo site wherein I could check out some places to check out in Boracay. This site can almost give you everything about the place and serves as the Philippines Travel Guide. Very helpful. They created this web site in the hopes of finding a better way for people to search and look for travel information, get recommendations of places to go, get tips and advice. They want people to make travel planning, friendly and approachable and they want to help people find travel inspirations. What I also love about their website is that it’s user friendly and even maps are available for us to check out.

I still have more photos to share about our Boracay trip 6 years ago and will be back with that soon. :)

Ninoy Aquino Airport (Terminal 3)

is finally operational. I wasn’t able to go there myself but Hubby did, twice already. The first time was when he brought my Dad to the airport on his way back to Mindanao. The second time was when he fetched his parents from Bicol.

I can say that his second experience was a bit bad. All flights/airlines were delayed and he waited for 5 long hours. He was surprised that people can actually enter the airport (good thing! or else he will wait in the car for 5 hours!). He said that the airport was nice but they were only a few staff/people manning the airport. That explains the delays in all the flights.

I guess things are not yet a breeze as of the moment, since they just started a couple of days ago. I’m sure they will improve in the next couple of months.

I look forward to that. And I hope that by next year (hopefully we can travel by that time), everything would be a breeze.
