Dusit Thani’s Crossover Sunday Buffet

For MIL’s 70th birthday we tried Dusit Thani’s Crossover Sunday buffet. I had no idea of the setup so I was surprised that the buffet was in every restaurant of Dusit – Basix, Umu, Tosca, and Benjarong. It was an odd setup knowing that you had cross the lobby to get food. We were seated at the Basix Restaurant, which has the main buffet, I assume.

In this restaurant, you will see the usual, Chinese cuisine, Salads, Roastbeef steaks, Veggies, and desserts.

I got a Caesar salad, siomai and shrimp dumpling, Roastbeef with steamed veggies and fried potatoes on the side, and strawberry crepe.

Our next stop: UMU Restaurant. We got a couple of makis here. Since we were both carrying the kids, we couldn’t get that much food. And since we had to cross the lobby to get food, we were too lazy to go back anymore. But the makis were really good. Maybe next time, we will try Teppanyaki and Sukiyaki. And maybe next time, we will choose this restaurant instead of Basix.

Drinks were also unlimited. But you had to get your drinks here.

Unfortunately that was it! We didn’t have much time to eat while we were there. That day, the kids were very very cranky so we didn’t really enjoyed the food that much. All along I thought that Dusit’s buffet was not worth it, but I realized that we just didn’t have much time to explore the rest of the restaurants. I would have love to try the Benjarong and the Tosca for Thai and Italian food. Oh well, hopefully there is a next time.

I also noticed that they have POS systems that are worth mentioning. I guess this has been standard for all 5 star hotels particularly in Manila. I couldn’t imagine how they could track each customer when people are in and out of each restaurant wearing only a colored bracelet/wrist band. The kids had different wrist bands too. So I guess they monitor this in every reservation? Or in every registration of each customer? I’m not really sure. But one thing for sure, they have a reliable POS machine and systems that would monitor everything.

To end, would like to post a beautiful photo of this lady who plays an instrument in the lobby.

I love their clothes. It was all asian-inspired and it fits perfectly to their beautiful faces.
