Aaaaahhhh…Weddings!

I used to hate weddings. It’s long and boring. People are so formal. It requires me to dress up formal attire. And forcing all single ladies to go and catch the bouquet!

But when Hubby proposed and we started doing the wedding preps, I realized how special weddings are (well, at least for the bride and groom!). And knowing how stressful the preparations are, and how much time the bride and groom allots time for weddings, I began to appreciate it. And from then on, I would stay until the end of the reception (I used to eat-and-run before! Bad!).

Hubby and I attended a nice and simple wedding last Saturday of Junes and Joyce at Paranaque City.

What a pretty couple!

As always (since pregnancy), I would get emotional! I was just amazed at how families and friends would bring out their efforts to make the event a success. And how they supported Junes and Joyce all throughout. For me, that’s more important.

Maybe that’s the main reason why I now appreciate weddings. Because when i was preparing for my own wedding, I knew who my true friends were, who supported me, who were there for me (especially during wedding jitters!), and the members of my family who were really, really happy for me.

Aaaaahhhh…Weddings!

Pandesal

Ok, since I didn’t want to eat oatmeal for breakfast I opted to eat pandesal. Little did I know that it would make my sugar shoot up! :( I ate two huge pandesals with egg and cheese. Well maybe it was a bit my fault because I overate. LOL! So when I took my blood sugar after an hour I got 174 wherein the normal blood sugar should be max 140. :( So I was disappointed because I was so happy with that meal. Now I need to lessen down my pandesal in take and look for an alternative. (*sigh*)

To pregnant women out there who wants to keep their blood sugar normal, beware of huge pandesals! LOL!

The Paradox of our Times

.:. Just want to share this nice email that I got a couple of days ago. It made me think, am I getting the most out of life!? Read on… .:.

GEORGE CARLIN (His wife recently died…)

Isn’t it amazing that George Carlin – gross and mouthy comedian of the 70’s and 80’s – could write something so very eloquent…and so very appropriate.

A wonderful Message by George Carlin:The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We’ve learned how to make a living, but not a life. We’ve added years to life not life to years. We’ve been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We’ve done larger things, but not better things.

We’ve cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We’ve conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We’ve learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete…

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn’t cost a cent.

Remember, to say, “I love you” to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

I'm Craving…

For a lot of things lately but two major food that I REALLY, REALLY want to eat is Chicken A La King and La Paz Batchoy.

I’ve researched a bit last night if there is an original La Paz Batchoy here in Manila and I found one! It’s called Ted’s Old Timer La Paz Batchoy and I can only find it in MOA. Hmmmm…it is a bit far. But thinking about my Mom who went all the way from Mindanao to Manila just to be able to eat Good Earth Mami and Spaghetti when she was pregnant with me, I think MOA is manageable right!? LOL!

Any more suggestions on where to get an original La Paz Batchoy? (*grin*)

Happy Birthday to my Father In Law!

Yeap, my FIL’s birthday is on April Fool’s day! :) I’m actually thinking of what to give him later (oh, we are so last-minute!) and Hubby and I agreed on giving him a special cake. Since we haven’t ordered three days ago, the best thing that we can do is buy it from Conti’s. There a lot to choose from actually. From Tiramisu, Mango Bravo, Choco Overload and a whole lot more! I don’t know what to choose because I think I want to give him all the flavors. LOL! Anyway will just drop by their shop later and see what they have in store for us. I just hope that my FIL would like what we choose though. :)

To Daddy, Happy Birthday!
