Before I was a Mom

I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.

I didn’t worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.

I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom –

I had never been puked on.

Pooped on.

Chewed on.

Peed on.

I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.

I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom

I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.

Or give shots.

I never looked into teary eyes and cried.

I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.

I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom

I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn’t want to put him down.

I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn’t stop the hurt.

I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.

I never knew that I could love someone so much.

I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom -

I didn’t know the feeling of having my heart outside my body.

I didn’t know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.

I didn’t know that bond between a mother and her child.

I didn’t know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom -

I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.

I had never known the warmth, the joy, the love, the heartache,

the wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom.

I didn’t know I was capable of feeling so much, before I was a Mom.

After staying at home on weekdays on my first trimester since I was too lazy to go out and even dress up, I realized that I needed to go out once again with my friends. And besides, Hubby and A need to bond more too. So I left both of them at home last night and went out with my friend to watch the movie “Caregiver”.

We watched the 6:30PM show. We were a bit late (around 10mins) so we weren’t able to watch the first few scenes of the movie. I loved the movie! I cried several times, it was a movie that you would learn something. The main reason why I wanted to watch it because I wanted to see London, but the movie was more to London. It was interesting and I’m glad that I made time to watch it. It was also about marriage and about being a Mom.

After the movie, we decided to have dinner at Chosun, a Korean Restaurant. We ordered so much food that we both ended up really, really full. We ordered for Beef Bulgogi, Chapchae (which I found it really delicious) and Shrimp fried rice. But both of us had fun eating and exchanging stories. It’s been awhile since I went out with a friend and I’m really glad that I did. Of course I missed Hubby and A by the time we were done and I couldn’t wait to go home to be with them again.

It was a wonderful time out for me and I’m looking forward to meeting more of my friends soon.
