Top 5 Family Friendly Spots in Hongkong

You should have a hint by now that our next family getaway would be in Hongkong! As I was fixing some papers and budget for some travel emergency while we are away, I’m also doing a lot research on our itinerary. As you know, we will be bringing our two kids for the first time so our trip should be stressed-free!

I came across these 5 family friendly spots that are worth visiting in Hongkong…

1. The Peak
The whole family has been here a couple of years ago and it was a great experience for us. This is one of the most popular tourist spots in Hongkong. Best to come here at night and never miss the tram ride!

The kids will love riding the vertiginous funicular railway to the wok-shaped Peak Tower for spectacular views of the world’s best skyline. There’s also a kids’ playground, virtual sports zone, Madame Tussauds wax museum, a shopping centre and dozens of restaurants.

2. Ocean Park
We’ve been to Ocean Park twice already and we still love it every time we were there. I read that this was built in 1977 to serve as a simple oceanarium, but now, Ocean Park is now considered to be one of the top 10 amusement parks in the world! Definitely worth visiting and kids would love this place.

3. Disneyland
This is the reason why we are going to Hongkong! Kids below 10 years old are the target market of this park. I can’t wait to check out Main Street USA, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland and Adventureland to meet all the kids’ favourite characters. Mickey’s PhilharMagic 3-D is something that we are looking forward to see.

4. Stanley Market
I have read that this place is is a mecca for cheap, well-made children clothes. Kids can swim at either Stanley or the bigger beach at the unfortunately named Repulse Bay. Except for winters off course.

The historic Murray House on the Stanley waterfront also houses the fantastic Hong Kong Maritime Museum and a number of Western and Asian eateries.

5. Hong Kong Wetland Park
I have read that this is a man-made oasis. They said that this place is flanked by ‘pigeon’s cages’ (community housing blocks). The 60-hectare wetlands area is alive with crocodiles, mangroves, birds and butterflies. Inside, it’s like miniature version of Canberra’s Questacon, full of interactive, educational games for kids.

I don’t know if we can visit the last two spots when we are in Hongkong but I’m thinking if it’s worth then we will!

Petronas Tower in KL, Malaysia

Last December my sister and two brothers went to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia to spend the Holidays. They had blast! We were supposed to join us there but since we weren’t able to set a budget for this trip, we opted on moving our trip to this year. When I saw the photos, now, I’m fretting and regretting why we didn’t go with them.

The highlight of the KL trip of course is the Petronas Tower.

petronas

Isn’t it a beauty? I wonder if how they built it? A tower but considered as one of the metal buildings in Malaysia?

Check out a bit of overview from Wikipedia.

Petronas, short for Petroliam Nasional Berhad, is a Malaysian-owned oil and gas company that was founded on August 17, 1974. Wholly owned by the Government, the corporation is vested with the entire oil and gas resources in Malaysia and is entrusted with the responsibility of developing and adding value to these resources. Petronas is ranked among Fortune Global 500’s largest corporations in the world.

Very Impressive. I hope to see this for myself very soon.

Looking for a Reliable and Good Dentist in Manila.

My friend who is a Dentist migrated a couple of years ago to the States and now she is a NJ Cosmetic dentist. Since she left, I never found the “perfect” dentist for me, Hubby and the kids. She has been maintaining my teeth for quite a while now and she knows what to do with it. Now that she has left, I’m currently looking for a reliable and good dentist especially now that our little girl needs one too. She is turning 4 in a few months and her teeth needs to be maintained already.

Any suggestions for a reliable dentist in Manila?

Supplier Rating: Prim of BabyFashionastas

When I saw this ladybug costume from Prims’ multiply site, I immediately decided that I want that particular costume for our baby girl. It would look great on her, I assumed.

And I was right…

a_guj_440

I had Prim made a ladybug costume for the birthday girl that includes a dress, a pair of shoes, wings, headband and a bolero to keep her warm. We went to her shop in Sta. Mesa for her measurements a month before the party. It was available at the agreed time. When we went back to get it, they still needed to do a few alterations but it was just for a minutes so we were able to wait.

As for A, I just asked her to make a very simple dress but look how it turned out!

a_guj_763

I so loved the dresses that Prim made. She is very easy to talk to. I just texted her some inquiries, she replies fast and is very accommodating. What I like about her is that she has a multiply site where I can check all her dresses whenever I’m free. I don’t have to go to her shop myself. Very hassle-free. This is why I love the internet because I can prepare for the party without me going out. Just like the auto insurance quote that I got online. It was so fast and efficient. I got in no time.

Prim’s dresses are not cheap, I must say, but not too expensive too. Very ideal for birthday parties, Halloween, and costume parties.

I highly recommend her!

Supplier Rating: Alex Lagula as the Host and Magician

I specifically told Apple of Yanple Party Shop that I’m on a budget so I can not spend too much on the host/magician. But I don’t want to sacrifice the quality and have the party hosted by just anyone. So I asked for her recommendations who can speak well and can make people laugh. She recommended Alex Lagula.

a_guj_649

True enough he was the life of the party. The kids enjoyed the magic show. It was just a simple show. He didn’t use that much fire or bring high tech gadgets such as samsung led hdtv to make the show interesting. He just brought the usual stuff – a dove, a handkerchief, and more. But still, the kids had the time of their lives.

Alex Lagula speaks really well and he handled the kids pretty well too. The kids’ count turned out to be around 50 or more I think but he did a good job in making them join the games and watch his magic show.

I highly recommend this guy!

Our Next Family Getaway.

I can’t believe that after booking our flight for our next family vacation September last year, we will be finally be on board the plane in the next few weeks! How time flies! I thought that booking 4 months before the flight is way too early, but I was wrong. Aside from the fact that it is way cheaper than booking a month before, we could at least prepare for the pocket money that we would be needing for the trip.

Major trips are worth saving for. Just like a trip for a week in Riviera Maya, particularly Azul Beach Hotel. It would a trip of all the major trips! It feels like heaven there – white sand, crystal clear water, never-ending rest with a massage and a nap in front of the beach. And the most exciting part – gourmet food prepared just for you! Sounds like a vacation of a lifetime for me.

Well, as of now, I’m preparing for this big trip in a few weeks. Not as big as going to Riviera Maya, but kids are looking forward to this so it would be their first major trip outside the country, well, particularly our baby girl. For the mean time, I’m sharing this photo of our family (without the baby girl) when we were in Oceanpark, Hongkong last December 2007. Almost 3 years ago.

Supplier Rating: 168 Shopping Mall in Divisoria.

When you go to Divisoria often, you would know that you can almost buy everything you want here. From clothes to shoes to home stuff such as faux wood blinds to party give-aways. Everything you need, you can find in Divisoria. Since we only need some prizes and a few stuff for the give-away, we opted on going to 168 Mall.

We went there thrice just for our baby girl’s party needs. My tip is that you should go there early to be able to find a good parking spot. And if you are early, you won’t have a lot of competition when buying since most shoppers go there after lunch. At least when you arrive in the mall at around 9AM or 10AM, you will be done by 1PM.

Almost all the prizes for the games were brought from 168 Mall and also the stuff that we put in the pail give-aways.

Those cute pencils were from 168 Mall!

We also brought the giveaways for the adults there.

a_kel_001
Not bad for p20 each – whole sale price.

a_kel_093
The only downside of getting whole sale is that you can’t choose which item you want. You have to buy the whole box!

These cute giveaways were placed in the adults’ table.

I love Divisoria so much. It doesn’t only offer cheap products but also offers a whole lot of items for your house, kids’ school supplies, party giveaways, clothes, shoes, bags, accessories and many more. If you are planning for a party, do check out Divisoria!

A Must Have for Traveling…

…with kids, that is!

bob_revolution

When I was taking care of our baby girl this weekend, I found out that there are times that she doesn’t want to walk on her own. Since we are traveling in the next few weeks, I was wondering how are we going to make it? Then I found this Bob revolution online. It looks pretty impressive…

The BOB Revolution stroller – with its front swivel wheel – has become the standard by which similar strollers are measured. This easy-rolling, stable, and well-built BOB stroller will last you for years and can carry up to 70 pounds.

FEATURES
* Ultra-padded, reclining seat for comfort
* Multi-position sun canopy
* Five point adjustable safety harness with shoulder pads
* Front wheel swivels 360 degrees with option to lock in place for jogging
* Wallet / key / cell phone pocket on rear of seatback
* Large Underseat storage basket
* Quick release rear wheels with rear shock absorber
* Rear foot brake
* Safety wrist strap included
* Lightweight aluminum chassis
* 5-year warranty on the frame

Hmmm, I wonder if we should get this for the baby girl?

Supplier Rating: Redsheep Photography

While I was browsing some best acne treatments and party suppliers recommended in N@W. I came across Redsheep Photography. That’s what I love about N@W, you can always get a lot of info that you need in terms of parties, kikay stuff like acnes and best treatments, Mommy problems, and more.

Anyway, after I saw Redsheep’s website I was immediately impressed by their photos. I inquired immediately and Guj himself replied. He was at his honeymoon then but kind enough to check his schedule if he is still available. He is very easy to talk to. He had a wedding scheduled for November 21 so I had to wait a few more weeks if this event will push through. After a month or two, I was finally able to book him.

The Basic Package that I got includes the following:

- Unlimited # of high-resolution shots on a DVD (edited & print quality)
- Online Photo Gallery; Photos are available for viewing 1 day after the event
- Slideoo Horizontal Slideshow for your blog/website
- 1 8R print or wallet size Equivalent
- Desktop Wallpaper (1440 x 900)

Both Guj and Mike (the second photog) got great pictures! I love most of it and I had a hard time choosing only 150 for the photo album. How I wish all of the photos will be included. (*grin*) I already submitted my list and after a month, will be getting the photo album. I can’t wait for that!

Guj and Mike of Redsheep Photography are highly recommended.
