SG/Phuket 2011 Trip: Our Flight to Phuket was a Breeze

After we checked out the hotel, we went out for a very quick shopping at Cotton On and Toys R’ Us and then off we went to the Changi Budget Terminal for our flight to Phuket.

Our flight to Phuket was around 6:30PM so we had heavy snacks at the airport while the kids played at the kiddie area. They were able to meet a few friends and played there while waiting to board the plane. The kids had lots of energy, probably too excited to go on a flight again. They also knew that we are heading to the beach, so they were ecstatic!

We boarded on time and the 1 hour and a half flight to Phuket was definitely a breeze! The kids didn’t even fall asleep during the flight.

When we arrived Phuket International Airport, we booked our day tour to Phi phi islands to be able to avail of their promo which is the free shuttle bus to our hotel. It took us more than an hour before arriving to Hotel Ibis Patong. It was such a lovely site to see after traveling for hours!

We knew then that we were in for a great adventure! We couldn’t wait to start it as soon as possible! (*wink*)

SG/Phuket 2011 Trip: Shopping on our First Day in Singapore

The only agenda on our first day in Singapore was to SHOP! Although I wished I had more time, but our flight to Phuket was on the same day so I settled for less than 2 hours at H&M and a couple of minutes at Cotton On.

Boy, it was the shortest shopping spree I’ve ever done in Singapore! In a span of 2 hours, I was able to buy a pair of shoes, a nice black blazer and a couple of inner tops from H&M.

From Cotton On, I was able to buy a pair of shoes, shorts, a top, umbrellas and scarves. I was a happy camper!

Right after shopping, we even managed to have our photos taken.

SG/Phuket 2011 Trip: Our First Lunch in Singapore

We slept so late already the night before because we had to unpack our things. We were also so excited to see each other (after not seeing my brother for months!) so we ended up sleeping around 2 or 3AM. The next day, I was a bit groggy but I knew I had a long day ahead so I woke up around 8AM, made sure that the kids were alright with their Lolo and then I bought their breakfast at where else, the nearest hawker!

Hawker centers are one of my favorite “cheap” food places in Singapore. The food is good and very cheap too! I like the roasted chicken with vegetables. If I knew we had more time, I could have ordered hot milk tea too.

Aaaaah, just thinking about it, makes me want to go ther now! Aaargh!

The kids were able to finish the food that I bought for them.

Since I didn’t have time to eat, I just bought shawarma from Shiraz. This is along Orchard Road and ate it while I shopped.

It was the best Shawarma I’ve ever tasted! YUM, YUM!

SG/Phuket 2011 Trip: Leaving Manila to Singapore via NAIA Terminal 1

We left Manila last Christmas day for our much awaited trip to Singapore and Phuket. We’ve been planning for this trip for almost a year so when the day of our flight came, we were all SO excited. Our flight to Singapore was around 8:30PM so by 5:30PM we were already at NAIA Terminal 1.

IMG_2894

We paid for the travel tax first, paid the amount and then got our change and a couple of coins. I knew we didn’t need those coins for our trip so I kept it first and will use it again right after our trip. Then off we went to the check-in counter of Jetstar Airways. This trip was our first trip with Jetstar so we were looking forward to it since I’ve heard good reviews about the airline. True enough, we had a smooth flight. The kids were asleep during the 3 hour flight, they didn’t give us a hard time at all! My kids are getting used to long hour flights. Maybe they are ready for the 18 hour flight soon! (*grin*)

We arrived on time, I can’t remember exactly, but it was around 12 midnight. We had to wait for a long time for our baggages though. The conveyor at Changi International Airport was damaged so we had to wait for almost an hour. Our stuff were a mess when I checked at the hotel. But good thing, everything was still there.

It was a long day for all of us so we just feel asleep after we talked with my family and looked forward to our first day in Singapore.

On Casette Tapes and Ipod

This one is so funny!

Compact-Cassette-vs-iPod

I know kids these days won’t be able to relate to this anymore. But as a kid from the late 70’s and early 80’s, this sure made me laugh!

I remember the old days when we used to listen to casette tapes. There was a time when I would record songs from a radio using Sony Recorders. If I like a song from the radio, I would wait for it again and then record it through a blank casette tape. I couldn’t afford to buy an album then. Oh, those were the days when life was so simple. Now that we have ipods, iphones, mp3 players, netbooks and tablets, we don’t have to record songs from a radio anymore!

But still, I believe that sony recorders are useful with school projects, news reporting and more. I’m glad those stuff were invented and I think we will have those stuff a couple of years more.

I Miss Clubbing

I had a relaxed weekend but I can’t help but missed the good old days when I used to go to clubs. My friends and I would hop from one bar to another. We would drink as much as we can handle. Of course, we can’t go home after that since we were too drunk, so we had to stay at my friend’s house until morning.

Those were the days when we were so young and carefree! I miss those days. There was a time when we would go to a club to listen to a few DJ’s with their Mackie dj mixers. Parties would never be complete without mobiles too. I remember during my 18th birthday, we would dance the whole night, thanks to the mixers, the songs were not boring at all. I remember we danced until the wee hours in the morning. I think it was one of the best days of my teenage years.

Now that I have two kids, I still appreciate music, but this time, we would dance at the songs of Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez. No more DJ mixers, but still, we managed to have fun! (*wink*)
