The city of the future has arrived. Through the impressive portals of Sci-Fi City you will experience the ultimate intergalactic battle of Good vs. Evil and visit a vibrant metropolis with all the ultimate modern conveniences. SOURCE.

Our trip to USS was really unforgettable all because of the Transformers Ride which we love so much! This is located in the Sci Fi City.

2012 Summer in Singapore: Revisiting USS – New York

Not much you can see at the New York area but still, like any other areas, there is always something special worth checking out.

Feel the spirit and energy of America’s biggest and grandest city as you stroll along the sidewalks and enjoy all the classic landmarks. Soak in the impressive city skylines, neon lights, and facades that set the scenes for big city fun and real-time movie production. SOURCE.

2012 Summer in Singapore: Revisiting USS – Lunch at Mel’s Drive-In

After a couple of minutes roaming around Hollywood Boulevard, we decided to have lunch at Mel’s Drive-IN.

Classic 1950’s drive-in diner serving all-American favorites like our famous rocket sauce burger, with a side of fries and a thick milkshake.

Who wouldn’t love burger, fries and soda!?

That’s what we had at Mel’s Drive-In. We totally had a good lunch!

Mel’s Drive-In gets a little crowded and it takes a while to get your orders, so take note of that before having lunch at the diner.

2012 Summer in Singapore: Revisiting USS – Hollywood

On our third day in Singapore, we went to Universal Studios Singapore. The weather was getting crazy! It was raining and then it would stop and then it would be too hot, we couldn’t take it anymore. But surprisingly, it didn’t dampen our moods. We still made sure that we have a great time in our second visit to USS (the first time was 2 years ago).

The first ever stop that you will encounter is the Hollywood Boulevard. You will not miss this area!

Step onto Hollywood Boulevard framed by dynamic architecture, palm trees and the famous Walk of Fame, you will feel as if you have landed in the center of the entertainment universe. SOURCE.

IMG_9708

For me, the Hollywood Boulevard welcomes you to USS. It actually sets the mood of what’s going to happen in your visit to the park. And since this street is awesome, an awesome adventure awaits you to the next areas of USS. Although take note that there are no rides here yet, so no mechanical stuff that you will see nor pillow block parts that you will notice. No sounds from the rides even. But lots of things that you can do…

Walk along the boulevard as if you are really in Hollywood!

2012 Summer in Singapore: Vivo City

I remember during our last trip to Singapore, we actually went to Vivo City everyday. This is because this is the way to go to Sentosa Island and Universal Studios Singapore.

IMG_5528

Vivo City is located at Harbourfront Walk and is one of the biggest mall in Singapore. The mall that is around 24 hectares that caters everything you’ll ever want, from fashion, books, electronics, sport, lifestyle, fashion and more. Everything is in this mall.

IMG_5525

The mall has Singapore’s largest cinema multiplex with 15 screens and 2,172 seats by the cinematic company Golden Village, along with one of the largest cinema screens in Asia. There are two giant food courts — a 2,200 square metre Kopitiam Group facility in Basement 2 and another spread over 2,500 square metres run by the BreadTalk Group, which is a Food Republic food court in similar concept at its sister food court at Wisma Atria.

I tell you, this mall is indeed huge!

For the transport details check this out:

The terminal of the Sentosa Express monorail is located on level 3 (next to the Food Republic food court) and is known as Sentosa Station. It was officially opened on January 15, 2007.

- Resort World Sentosa 8 or RWS8 bus stop is at the front of VivoCity. The bus service operates between VivoCity to the Resort World Sentosa.
- Linkway at basement 2 that connects to HarbourFront MRT Station and the Seah Im Hawker Centre across Telok Blangah Road.
- Two air-conditioned bridges on level 2 (lined with shops) connecting to HarbourFront Centre.
- An outdoor pedestrian bridge on level 2 (near the Golden Village Cinema) linking to St James Power Station
- The Sentosa Express terminal station on level 3 connecting to Sentosa Island.

2012 Summer in Singapore: Wonderful Riverside Point at Clarke Quay

After our dinner at Tomo Izakaya, we had a couple of minutes to enjoy Clarke Quay and went around for a bit. The view was breathtaking!

Too bad, we were all too tired from our Singapore Zoo escapade during the day that we couldn’t stay any longer. We just have a couple of our photos taken before we left.

IMG_9689

But if ever we will be in Singapore again, we will definitely check out Clarke Quay again and hopefully we could stay for a couple of drinks too.

I highly recommend that you check out Clarke Quay and don’t fail to add this in your itinerary. (*wink*)

2012 Summer in Singapore: Our Dinner at Tomo Izakaya, Clarke Quay

After hearing mass at the Cathedral, the whole family met up with our nephew outside the church to bring us all to Clarke Quay. It was our first time, so I was very excited to finally see Clarke Quay! They made a reservation at a Japanese restaurant and we met up there for dinner.

They ordered ahead of us, so, as soon as we arrived, our food was served immediately! ♥

Our Appetizers – Crispy Shrimps and Tofu with Beans

Tomo Potato Salad

This uber delicious salad has Mashed Potato, Carrot, Cucumber, Onion, Boiled Egg, and Pork Ham. This one is my favorite among others.

Salmon, Black & White seasame Seed

Oooh, I can still taste the freshness of the salmon. It was oh so good and tasty!

Yakitori – Chicken, Pork, Beef, Pork with Asparagus

It was one great meal that I would not definitely forget!

Mixed Tempura

Even if we were so full with all the food we ate, we still find the mixed tempura really good. How I wish I have all the space in my tummy to eat everything, but alas, I couldn’t take it anymore. Good thing we were allowed to bring the food to the hotel. (*grin*)

Perfect Ambiance + Sumptuous FOOD + Great Company = One Perfect Night at Clarke Quay.

Thanks again guys for the treat! (*wink*)

2012 Summer in Singapore: Heard Mass at the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd

After our trip to Singapore Zoo, we went back to the hotel to freshen up then went to hear mass at the Cathedral of the Good Shepherd. Yes, it was a Sunday! So the church was packed but we were happy that we were able to fulfill our Sunday obligations at the church.

P1050947

The Cathedral of the Good Shepherd is the oldest Roman Catholic church in Singapore. It is located in the Museum Planning Area within the Civic District and affords a welcome respite from the city.

Bounded by the parallel Queen and Victoria Streets, and Bras Basah Road, the Cathedral sits within well-shaded grounds. Much of its architecture is reminiscent of two famous London churches namely St Paul’s, Covent Garden and St Martin-in-the-Fields.

The Cathedral of the Good Shepherd is the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Singapore and the seat of its archbishop. It is the final resting place of Bishop Edouard Gasnier, the first bishop of the revived Diocese of Malacca and aptly houses the relics of Saint Laurent-Marie-Joseph Imbert, to whom the Cathedral owes its name. The church was huge and it was nice to be able to hear mass in a different country.

2012 Summer in Singapore: Exploring Singapore Day Zoo – Garden Pavillion by the Lake

The garden pavillion by the lake is also our favorite part in Singapore Zoo.

The view was so serene, I totally felt at peace while I was at the area. If only I could stay there for the rest of the day, but we had to move on since we still had plans for the night.

It was a wonderful day trip to Singapore Zoo. I highly recommend that you visit it too, because it was very much worth it! (*wink*)
